CLASS DESCRIPTION :
Our Pre-Teens On Camera program enables actors to perform and audition with confidence, while building their skills, making friends and having fun! Our program is both an on-camera and stage course ideal for performers of all experience levels. There are no mandatory requirements for enrollment. Students will learn both theatrical and on-camera technique. Each class is tailored to the students training and ability level. Students will learn how the industry works and what is expected of them in the audition room, during a callback and on set/stage. Students will learn how to break down sides, memorize text, develop a character and embrace the discipline associated with auditioning.
Class Focus: During the three-month term, students will work towards a final showcase in front of a casting/agent/producer panel. Students will also participate in the filming of a short film to be screened at Sudbury Silver City - Cineplex. Each month, students will be taught new techniques, work on fresh, current material and will build their personal confidence. Classes focus on personal growth and teamwork. There will be an end of term evaluation for each student.
CLASS CONTENT :
Students will have an opportunity to work both on stage and on-camera. Actors will learn what is expected of them on set, in the theatre and in various audition scenarios. We will teach the expected professionalism, how to interpret and understand text, and will help to build each performer's confidence level through various exercises and challenges. Being confident on camera and taking criticism constructively play a large role in theatre/camera success. Students will learn how to create a character, on-camera tool acquisition, isolating each performer's individual strengths + weaknesses, understanding and defining how to translate work effectively + competitively on screen and in the theatre. Acting classes at MAS are documented on an SD card for in class and take-home review.
There are no requirements for this class.
NOTE : Melissa A. Smith & MAS instructors are actively working in the film & television industry. Should a conflict arise preventing them from instructing a class, we will bring in a suitable replacement or will reschedule the class for a later date.
